We Call This Arrogance Knowledge

Bryan Ferry wasn't

the first one

but he sang it:

"Nothing lasts forever"

that we know of

in our perceptual sphere

Our mind's

fallen exhausted

yet dogged

attempts to see

to comprehend

the complexity of itself

This brain

highly conductive lump

of meaty tissue

Stunning

absurd idea

something so infinitesimal

made of material

with the lifespan

of an after lunch burp

when placed in relation

to the far flung stars

in our perceivable surroundings

could grasp the distances

we can only call "time"

when imagining outer spaces

where suns birth and die
